Freeman Studios is proud to
create three glasses replicating the award winning martini
glass designs associated with a yearly contest sponsored
by Bombay Sapphire. This will mark our third year of involvement
with the project. Starting in January 2006, we will be working
with Deussen Global Communications (NYC, NY) and Studio
3-0 (Dallas, TX) to produce four each, of this years three
award winning designs. Selected by Bombay Sapphire these
glasses will be featured in advertising and design expositions
around the world. See Bombay Sapphire’s website for

In 2002 the new Freeman Studios workshop was born.
Located right outside of Eugene, the studio sits on a beautiful five
acres surrounded by trees and inspiring scenery. Here is where the
Freeman Studios team creates their work. Their goal is to make only
the highest quality products ranging from glasswork and educational
videos to safety gear and beyond. The resident artists include Freeman
Corbin, Wesley Chumley, Justin McBurnett, and Randy Smith, as well
several apprentices and fellow lampworkers. They currently are working
on a line of interior design products ranging from lighting fixtures
to bathroom sinks and accessories. Freeman Studios provides private
classes at their personal studio in Eugene, Oregon; they also teach
group classes locally (through the Eugene Glass School) and abroad
(in Tokyo, Japan). The Freeman Studios team is constantly striving
to raise the standards and expectations of what the glass medium has
to offer while also broadening their skills through the use of new
working techniques and multi-faceted methods.

This custom Ka dish cup has a brilliant dot
box for the center with zebra reversals above and below. The
cup stands at about 8 inches. The three marbles used for the
section between the cup and foot are matching with color and
design. The foot also has a clean yellow and orange ribbon wrap.
Freeman Corbin began Lampworking in 1996 on
the coast of Oregon. After building his skills he moved to Eugene
were he set up a small shop inside of his house. He began apprenticing
students and quickly became known for his extreme attention
to detail. The precision of his work and making sure every piece
holds a standard has made him the respected artist he is today.
Wesley Chumley began an apprecticeship
with Freeman Corbin in the summer of 1998 after spending several
years of observation in various studios around the Eugene area.
Through this unique relationship with Freeman, his skills and
techniques developed very quickly. He has continually worked
to broaden his understanding of glass techniques and mediums
while striving to push himself and those around him to higher
standards. This quality control is what has set his work apart
from so many others in his field.
Justin McBurnett
is known for unique art with a refined balance between elegant,
rhythmic form and detailed, yet bold precision patterns. His
interest in ancient vessels and glass art combined with a love
of modern and graphic arts influence his works. An organic quality
is alive in Justin's pieces that come from his natural sense
of the "golden-mean" ratio that exists in most forms
and systems in the universe, as well as many timeless works
of art and temples. "I feel that I unite the ancient and
the future in the present through my art. Glass art has been
created for over 4500 years and I'm honored to be part of a
great tradition."
